Teen Car Insurance: Secret Saving Tips
If you have teenagers you know the first privilege they want is a driver's license. Well its no secret that insuring a teen driver can be extremely costly. Here are a few tips to greatly lower the cost of teen car insurance:
Driving Record
As with adults car insurance companies are extremely concerned with a clients driving record. Teen car insurance rates can quickly grow exponentially after just one traffic violation. It's extremely important to stress to your teen driver the importance of obeying the laws of the road. This isn't only important for your teen car insurance rates but also your teen driver's safety.
Grades
It doesn't seem like teen car insurance companies would be too concerned with your child's grades, just their driving record right? Wrong! Many companies that offer teen car insurance will give rather large discounts to students consistently achieving above average grades. So not only should you push your teens to get good grades for college but also to save money on teen car insurance.
Volunteer
Along the same lines as grades car insurance companies look for responsibility in all areas of your teen driver's life. Car insurance companies sometimes are willing to give discounts to drivers who volunteer in their community. Good places to volunteer are hospitals, cleaning public areas, homes for the elderly, churches, day camps, etc. Also teen car insurance companies may give discounts to accomplished boy scouts and girl scouts. Another parallel to the grades factor is that all of these things look good on a college application.
Car Type
Probably the largest factor besides driving record is the type of car your teen driver will need car insurance for. Car insurance companies are well informed when it comes to a car's safety so pick a car that is safe. Avoid sports cars or any other form of flashy exotic cars, teen car insurance companies, especially, know the temptation to drive fast and the fact that performance cars make that temptation virtually irresistible. Another division of cars to avoid at all costs are sport utility vehicles. Large cars in accidents cause huge amounts of damage in collision and car insurance companies don't exactly love the idea of insuring a teen driving one. A good rule of thumb is thumb is to stay away from any type of large vehicle for teens. Also if you have been to the gas station lately you know a more direct cost effectiveness reason for buying a smaller car. Once you find a car that you feel will be good for your teen driver (and you believe teen car insurance companies will insure) it's strongly recommended that you get all available safety features on it. Teen car insurance companies like cars with anti-lock brakes, all available types of airbags, and a stability control system.
If these guide lines are followed it's possible for you to save hundreds of dollars on your teen car insurance.

My answer to a question was reported? (Answers: 10) (Comments: 0)
I answered a question.
It asked:
Where can i get cheap car insurance for a first time driver?
I am 17 and want to get a insurance for a Peugoet 205 1.8 turbo deisil and need the cheapest car insurance because im a student please help!!!
So I answered:
As above, you will definitely not get cheap insurance on any car, especially if you are a man. I wouldn't expect to see much change from £1000 on any car. That said, there are a few sites you might want to try i.e.
www.endsleigh.co.uk/young-driver-insurance.html They specialise in student car insurance & provide student discounts too. You may also want to try googling it like I have:
www.google.com/search?client=opera&rls=en&q=young+driver+car+insurance&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 The above link provides loads of sites for you to try!"
Does that constitute a violation as I was only answering a question I provided links as an example, I have used the insurance company when I was a student & the only other link I provided was to a google search that I had done.
So, should my answer have been deleted?
Your opinions please.
With reference to badhabyt thanx for the advice (I gave a thumbs up for it too :-) ), I did actually provide the google link though, I deleted the HTTP:// parts of the link for the purposes of the question though which is why the links don't work now.
Also Thanks to everyone for their advice & answers so far.
That as above bit is definitely going to be taken on board too!

Student car insurance help. Anybody else in this situation? (Answers: 4) (Comments: 0)
I have recently passed my test and am picking up a car I have bought in two weeks' time. The car is only a little 1.0L Vauxhall Corsa 2002, paid £2000 for it. I've been looking on insurance websites - namely Compare The Market, and the cheapest quote I've found is £2436 (£250 excess)! I am wondering if anyone can recommend an insurance company which will allow me to hold my own policy (not a named driver) for £2000 or less.
Any suggestions?
